Red face Glovebox, Key

Alright I might be retarded but I got off work exhausted and went to take my glovebox out and removed the handle which I then placed inside of it. Half way through I shut the glovebox and I now can't figure out how to remove the damned thing. Does the glovebox need to be opened to finish it off or is it those two little slide bar things on the back that are preventing me. I tried several different methods of pushing the pins out but was unable to.

Also I just got new keys cut and they don't fit very well. Is there any way for me to get them to work better? My original was broke so I did it off a VIN.

new keys are usually sharper than old keys (obviously). When I had my new key cut it would barely work at all. I ran a file over the teeth, then ran it in and out of the lock a bunch of times. Works like a charm now.
