over flow nipple

my 93 block has the over flow nipple on the T-STAT housing. a two peice set up that bolts onto the top. some made in plastic some made of metal.

ok my new block is a one peice setup no nipple. and has the flat cap on it.

where would i put the 13-16 psi rad cap on at? would i have to buy a AST with a over flow nipple? and put the pressurized cap on that?

If you want to run with no AST, you need to block off the radiator and t-stat housing to AST nipples. Then, put the plastic piece with the overflow nipple on the tstat housing you want to use. Put a pressure cap on that plastic piece and run a line to the overflow.

To run with AST, yes you'd have to buy that stuff.

well iam about to send back my core. my core has the t-stat housing that can bolt and unbolt the plastic filler neck. its used and dirty.

the new t-stat housing is a one peice unit its solid metal and has no nipple

what one should i keep? i guess if its i want to go AST or no AST

wouldnt having the AST with the nipple and pressurized cap sit lower than the flat cap(tstat housing) not be the best solution? or does that only matter when filling with coolant i cant remeber..
