General Questions

1. Is there a trick to get the search to actually search what youd like it to?

2. How do you eliminate the oem BOV for aftermarket (greddy elbow with bov), or otherstyles? What do you do with the manifold relief valve(I think thats what its called)?

3. Do all midpipes cause boost creep?

Thanks in advance. I guess when I figure out #1 I could get the answers I need.

1. using a search engine is a general item and not specific to this site....try using only two or three search words and search using "posts" not "threads" And as always, start with the FAQ thread.

2. cap off the openings in the y-pipe and intake box for the stock BOV and run the vacuum line from the upper intake manifold (UIM) to the new BOV. There is nothing wrong with the stock BOV so you aren't gaining anything here.

3. a midpipe is a midpipe. It is a serious mod that should not be done until the wastegate can be ported and you have adequate fuel and ecu support.

Treat the search just like as place to ask a question. For instance, you want to know how to install an aftermarket BOV. Search using:

"how to install an aftermarket bov"

Now, the search function will eliminate the words that are too short or too common automatically (unless all the words you use fall into that category). In short, don't be afraid to put a sentence into the search function. It's not going to blow up.

There are two devices which are BOV 'like' devices. One is the ABV and the other is the CRV. You leave the CRV alone, the ABV is the one you are replacing. When installing an aftermarket BOV, you have two options:

1. Install it on a flange which is welded to hard intercooler piping
2. Buy a BOV kit which has a flange to be used instead of mounting to a hard IC pipe'

Midpipes in general can cause boost creep. However, each car is different so some cars will experience boost creep with a midpipe and some won't. There is no real determining factor as to which ones do and which ones don't. But you just need to be aware that it can happen and ways of resolving it.

With the oem BOV removed what do I do about those holes in the system, weld the Y pipe? Only doing it because I have a few BOVs laying around my house and I can pick up a greddy elbow cheap. May score a tial valve free.

4. The one question I forgot to ask where to buy rattle can touch up paint? Mazda here told me no Montego or any other rattle can paint is available.

You can block them off with rubber caps from the HELP! section of most NAPA and AutoZone stores. You need to make sure to zip tie the cap.

Your best bet is to go to a body shop and see if they can mix up something for you.
