gen 1 question to gen III car people

I had 5 Rx7s (4 gen 1's and one gen II). In 2009 I traded my 86 on a 2009 Nissan 370Z. Loved the performance but the bug-like styling wasn't so hot. Car had constant clutch slave cylinder problems ($1300 repair) the dealer would not fix even after 3rd break down so I sold it. I decided to get back into Rx7s and bought my 6th, an 84 GSL-SE. I am sure I will love it and plan to keep it pretty much stock. Therein lies the challenge. I miss the power of the Z. In time, will I be able to pick up a gen III in the $16 to 22K range in great shape? I don't want to go too radical but, with minor mods, can it be made to run 0 to 60 in about 5 secs with a top speed of say 155? If so, I'd be satisfied and that would put a huge grin on my aging face. Sorry for dumb questions, it has been a long time since I had an Rx7. All I have for the gen IIIs is an original 93 sales brochure. Should have bought one.

I'd shoot a PM to allrotor93

He's constantly got clean FD's for sale and usually right around your price range.

The answer is yes to all of the above.

You made my day. Now I'll be obsessed with one until I have it which will be a few years.
