Gauge Cluster Right Side Button (What are you?!)

The previous owner of my FD had removed the right hand side button on the gauge hood (Opposite the Fog light button located on the driver side) for a switch to power the gauges.

Don't know why, but that's what he did. I appreciate the effort, however I am rewiring most of the car and would like to plug that hole up, and with something that actually came from the car.

This is the highest definition picture that I could get of the button, almost looks like 2, top button with some writing and the bottom button that says off? Is this the cruise control button?

I just can't make it out, and I would like to know what i'm looking for in order to trace this part....

All of your help is very much appreciated. Thanks.

Yeah that's the cruise control button

If you don't have/want cruise you can replace with a blank for that spot.

Cruise Control Blank ? Niche Motoring

I actually have a really nice glossy carbon fiber blank in that position. It came with the car so no idea what brand/where it came from. I assume you could probably find them with some searching though.

Aftermarket fail!

The R1/R2 did not have cruise control.

The factory blanking plate that fits better and has the correct finish is $5 for the '93 from Mazda and $3 for the '94 up.

FD01-55-225 early
FD03-55-225 later

I hit up the man, the myth , the legend Ray Crowe in regards to this, and this is what he had to say...

This switch blank has been discontinued for years.

Thanks
Ray Crowe.

I was not able to check on the availability when I posted the part #s because it was after hours at Mazdaspeed.

But I just checked availability and the earlier FD01-55-225 is no longer available and
FD03-55-225 is the supersession part which is Back Order status- which means it has to come from Japan.

Pretty much only Mazda USA can get Mazda Japan to ship stock over, so you will have to go through a Mazda Dealer or Mazdaspeed.

--------------

So... cheap, but not as easy to order as the aftermarket. I see the niche now.

I guess what someone should have done is order a batch from Mazda and mark them up instead of making them (assuming it takes more than $3 in materials, energy and time to 3D print).

Although... with 3D printing, your "stock" is just the code to print it, so maybe it really is best if you don't think there is much market for the part.

I guess I have to adjust to the new market model available with 3D printing...
