Question Gauge cluster question

After searching and finding a repair forum on fixin my odometer I got it working for 2 days and then it died again.

Will the japan or Malaysian gauge clusters work in my American car? I don't care if it's in km/hour or not. Any links on this. Or what keywords to search on?

I'm so bummed with my fd. Expensive hard to find parts are wearing on me. Just bought a set of Mazda brake pads for $130 from the dealer. Grrrrr.....

Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions....

there is a company that mazda contracts to repair their own gauge clusters. you can order a new cluster from Ray @ Malloy Mazda then send that company both of the gauges cluster and they can put the correct mileage on it for you.

but let me say this...this is what you should and the legal way of doing things. some people don't necessarily follow this rule.

but it's your car.

Wow... Will call Ray monday morning.

Only problem is that I have no idea what my mileage is. It may store that mileage even though the display does not work. Is that possible??

the cluster is the only place that stores mileage data. it's not stored anywhere else in the car. the company that you send it to will be able to extract the current mileage data from your original cluster.

even though the cluster is not displaying the mileage data, it is still recording mileage as well.
