Gas tank related question.. HELP ME PLZ!!

So I was trying to drill a hole in the bottom of the trunk to get some water out of there and I drilled through the gas tank at the same time.

Now my question is.. Is my gas tank a write off or can I patch it up and drain the old gas out as well. Or do I have to go buy a new one ?

If you have an older FD, I would use this as an opportunity to upgrade to a newer tank with the updated baffles.

What would you consider older? I have a 93 rx-7.

The baffles in your current tank are probably scattered all over the bottom of the tank.

I just bought a very clean but used 93 FD tank - all the baffle welds have broken off.

In my case I don't care, as I'm adding a Hyperion cover to the internal tank the fuel pump sits in.

As those covers are no longer available, a new fuel tank is the best option for you.

You can just weld it shut.

I'd be worried about metal shavings that could have gone into the tank. I would either find someone to clean and repair the tank or find someone parting out there car and get another tank

The mid-year 94's and up got a slightly modified version of the gas tank.
