Rotary engines typically consume more fuel than a piston engine because the thermodynamic efficiency of the engine is reduced by the long combustion-chamber shape and low compression ratio.

Uh-huh ... so you're gonna drive around with a compression ratio of 8.5:1 on that Z32 with the turbos "disabled"? Uh-huh ... and this is going to improve gas mileage? OK, so you do know that the compression ratio on an NA Z32 is 10.5:1 and that generates 220 hp, right? So you're telling me you're gonna drive around on an "all-motor" 8.5:1 DOHC V6? Uh-huh ... OK.

I'm with you on the fuel economy DK...

I've had a few cars that proved the point on that and they were all Supras. From my own experience Supra N/As and Turbos have all gotten about the same gas mileage with the same 3 liter displacement since the 1987 models came out. It's amazing that the MKIII 200 hp N/A and the 232 hp turbo got the same mileage and then the MKIV 222 hp N/A and the 320 hp TT still got the same mileage as eachother and as the generation before.

Basically if the engine doesn't have to work as hard to go the same speed it will do it more efficiently... also turbo cars generally run a slightly different air to fuel ratio compared with N/A engines.

i get around 12-14 in true city traffic, and ~18-20 if i drive about 280 miles all freeway, and i have power fc. after a while, you kinda get used to spending money on gas, and parts costs are what you spend time complaining about.

i think the stock wastegate can only hold its lowest at ~7 pounds, even without any type of turbo control. sorry dude, i dont think its possible to simply "turn off" the turbos.

LMAO! your post ckracked me up, DK.

damn...how slow will an "all-motor" (lol!) 300Z TT be?? i guess the "all-motor" (and stock) civic guys will be beating him!

im guessing that with a NA engine with an 8.5:1 ratio would get TERRIBLE gass mileage. the reason?? you would have to floor it to get anywhere.

also...how big are the stock Z32 wastegates?? they are gonna have to be pretty damn big to vent ALL the exhaust the engine spits out in order not to spin boost. in my opinion...not possible!

also, turbos make an engine more efficient. using its own power to generate more power. thats how they get better gas mileage.

Know I'm not worried about money and I get around 200miles. It all depends how you drive. I swear when I am running my car hard I can see the gas gauge move, maby not but I think it does .
that seem's to be the same thing for me!
