Gas Mileage AWLFUL is this normal?

Ever since I installed my PFC with MIDPIPE.
I have noticed my FUEL MILEAGE to be
absolutely awlful..
I understand that my PFC currently is running
really rich, i realize I need dyno tuned asap.
but lord have mercy...

I have a 70 mile commute round trip from work.
Not totally highway but lights after long stretches.
I am litterally burning 1/2 tank maybe a little less
than a half tank a round trip. So thats like
almost a 7-8 mile a gallon..

IS this excessively bad/normal or what?

Yeah my gas milage has been hurting also. Worse than usual. I am almost empty and I havent even went over 200 miles.

If your getting 7/8 miles a gallon...... that is WAY rich

it's exponential down ofcourse..

mpg vs right foot.

7-8 is pretty dismal though... I get about 14-15...always seeing 6-7K rpms and atleast 10lbs of boost

By your post I'm assuming that you are driving your Fd everyday.

In risk of being called CAPTAIN OBVIOUS, I'm gonna go ahead and state that if you buy a little honda for around 2k it will pay for itself in the long run.

PS- I know that my reply has nothing to do with your Q but I thought I should state it anyway

15 mpg, same as before installing PFC. First tank with PFC was worse, I nearly had a heart attack Haven't had a chance to tune it, it should get a little better, as nearly everyone has found their PFC runs their car rich.

Actually, I drive my FD3S 3-4 times a week.
And I do have a daily driver a Civic..

In the mornings when I go into work..
I look and see my Civic Hatch and my FD3S.
I try to keep the miles down but I say..
" **** IT" i'll drive the FD3S, even though
it drinking gas faster than stripper dropping
her panties.. haha

I guess I can change my driving habits.
but its hard to resist 3rd gear pulls to
6k rpms..

Wish I wasn't such a ***** and tune some
gas out with the PFC. Better run rich
and drink alot of gas than a blown 13B.

Wish there was a local tuner.. the heart ache

I'm stock right now and I get 20mpg for mixed driving. Driving style definitely makes a big difference. One time I spent an entire tank giving rides up and down a mountain road near my house and I managed around 10mpg . But 7-8mpg is horrible, power mods shouldn't hurt your fuel economy unless you're using the power, so if you're just driving to work, you gotta get that thing tuned. Question, does the PFC use the O2 sensor for open loop during partial throttle like the stock ecu or is it always closed loop? Because I noticed that trying to keep the car in open loop helps the mileage a lot.

I used to get around 11-15 as well. There's no way you're going to mod this car and have it get great gas mileage...

That PFC is tuned rich. When me and ryan were checking it out it hit high injector dutys with stock boost levels, like %80-%90.

Change the O2 senser and lean out the fuel cells you are in at cruise keeping it alittle rich , Garfinkle adjust his as needed and now is very good on gas but still over rich under high boost,

Don't forget the basics. Change those spark plugs. If they are in bad shape....mpg will suffer as well.

Cool my 2senses

I've got the pfc w/ commander, apexi fmic, intake, dp, mp, dual n1 exhaust, cosmo fuel pump, and running between 12 to 15 lbs of boost...

city driving - 270 miles... about 18 to 20 mpg
fwy driving - 320 miles... about 22 to 25 mpg

stock injectors and turbos.

see ya,

Cool

I've got the 2002 BMW M Coupe and that will do 250 miles no matter what, so my 7 actually puts out a lot more gas mileage.
