Unhappy GAH Help me quick! (air filter/airbox)

why does changing my air filter have to be so damn hard!!!

I have two pics

Does anyone know where this hose connects to?

I detached it to open the airbox, but when i was attaching it back on , i realized the end of it was not connected to anything? i looked to see what it could connect to , but i can't see what it would connect to ?

also (pic2) i accidentally broken the plastic while pulling off the hose....is this one of the hoses that can be left open to the atomsphere....if not how can i fix it? glue ? what type...

thanks a lot to whoever can help me out.

BOTH THOES HOSES are part of the airpump BYPASS air vent - There is a small muffler chamber built into the top of the AIRBOX also - Leaving those hoses off/open won't hurt anything (they VENT only no suction) but will lead to the dreaded MOOING - The plastic nipple can be reattached with JB-Weld.

spend 250 bucks and get an after-market air filter. will give you more power, and chaging filters wont be a hassle any more. not to mention more room in the engine bay.
