Sorry to hear it broke on you!
The good thing is when you pull the LIM it will be easy to get any leftover pieces. They will just be sitting there in the intake port. May want to run a shop vac over the port to be certain.
Also, here's hoping you have a metal LIM to engine gasket. If somehow you have the original paper gasket you'll need to stop and get a new one, the paper gaskets rip and destroy themselves, not to mention it's a common vacuum leak source.

Well, I spoke with Cam and he brought up the obvious to me. Stick a hose down the top intake. I am pretty disappointed in myself that I didn't think of that, but anyway all pieces are recovered.

Dale I can see a metal gasket and it looks pretty shiny actually. So that's a good thing I guess. I am happy I will not be pulling it though.
I am 99.9% sure all is recovered. Since the .01% is my self induced paranoia I will continue to vacuum for an hour or so. I

Nice! Yeah I think you are good to go there. May also be worth, just for sanity, putting a socket on the front pulley and turning the motor over by hand. If you can do a few revolutions with no binding or anything I would feel really good that you are 100%.

So just an update. She's been turned over, but I think I flooded. I should have thought about all that before. I've had the secondaries off for awhile and I am sure all the fuel in rail was just leaking into chamber.
I pressurized the system and saw no leaks. I tried to start her, but she flooded out. More fuel on the ground. Assuming she flooded. I will pull the lower plugs later today and go through some unfolding procedures. Or maybe just try when I get homeas she will have sat for awhile. How that makes sense. My coffee hasn't kicked in yet.

reminds me of the time when my primaries diffuser broke and dropped into the engine....I had so much oil and lube and what not sprayed ahead of time, barely touched it and the legs broke off, could still see a little bit of it in the center plate. No matter what I did, I wasn't able to grabbed all of the broken bottom piece(s) then all of a sudden I hear a dink sound and that's when I knew it wasn't good......Ended up spending the rest of the night taking out the intake, downpipe, turbos, and exhaust mani and even then it took a while to get the piece just right to pull it out of the exhaust port....

I got very lucky. To be honest I dont have any idea why they aren't a mandatory replacement on rebuilds.
