FYI, Malloy does sell the "hood/meter gauge hood"

Was talking with Ray today and he does sell the gauge hood, also I understood him to say that it includes the front part that surrounds the gauges.

$259.xx for the 94-95 finish
$313.xx for the 93 finish

He has the 93 in stock and is supposed to get the 94-95 finish this coming Wednesday.

More than a few people seem to need this so I figured Id post this information up.

Also Ray charges $5 for shipping now. Which is more than fair IMO.

Thanks Ray for taking care of us.

Thanks for the info. That is a good deal for the meter hood! The inclusion of the plastic that surround the gauges is already $85.00 something alone.

I just bought alot of parts past week and some more yesterday. Hope prices stay as I place to restore my interior next Spring though I know some peices are HTF or discontinued in certain finishes.

Wonder why the lesser desired 93 finish is more?

Not complaining because it's that much less I have to spend when I swap out all my 93 panels next year.

Because the 93 panels are more in demand and look much better.

Why would it be? They do look better. As Mahjik put it, good condition 93 panel > 94+ panel > bad condition 93 panel.

The reason for the higher price probably has to do with the fact that there were so many more 93s than the later models, as well people with the 93s are more likely to need to replace their panels than the later years.

I do agree, the '93 panels do look better with that smooth finish...ONLY in new or mint shape. But '93 is bad when it's scuffed up like most are. The only thing i like with '94-95 is that its textured thus scratches aren't even nearly noticeable as with '93 smooth finish. That's the only benefit but imporant thing I see with the textured ones.

For the price difference, I'm not sure why.

These have been available through Ray for YEARS. Only difference is, a year or two ago, you could buy the hood separate from the gauge panel cover, but then they required them to be sold as one (as sales dropped).

You answered my question before I had to ask.

I love the look of 93 finish but I think 94+ dont tend to break as easily. Both my cruise control buttons and my headlight flip button broke off the gauge cluster cover. It feels like very cheap plastic, although I am planning to order another one.

I have a replacement '93 hood from ray, and while it looks the same/matches the originals, it appears to be a spray-applied finish rather than a film, and should be a bit more durable.

Does anyone have a picture of what the hood looks like? If it is what I think it is, I might need to call him before he runs out.

so that also includes the front surround on the cluster? Like the rings around the gauges on my car arent shiney anymore and they look like crap, would this replace that part?

Hate to break it to you, but the a/c panel surround isn't available anymore in the '94-95 finish. Back when I converted my R1 interior, I scored one of the last ones around.

That panel w/ the "chrome" rings is separate; it's like $80some IIRC

I believe it's the two pieces that I drew arrows pointing to in this image. I wish someone would confirm, though, because I really need the top piece(it's ******* impossible to find used, I've been looking for one for over a year).

My dear confused friends...

Please consult this picture:

1) The front panel you're looking at, with the circles in it, that sits in front of the gauge panel is called the...gauge/cluster panel (I know, the name is so hard to figure out! lol).

The top rounded dome attached to the panel (also shown in the pic SLOASFK posted, w/ the arrow pointing to it) is the gauge/cluster panel HOOD.

These two parts used to be available separately, they are now sold TOGETHER ONLY.

2) Now, note that the gauge/cluster panel is only the black plastic. There is no see-through plastic panel that covers the gauges themselves, or chrome rings. That is the part I mentioned that comes separately. It comes as a solo piece of plastic with the chrome rings.

Make sense?

~Ramy

Roughly $80 IIRC (it's between $70 and $90, so I'm calling it $80ish off the top of my head).

not really...

Unless the hood is the piece that goes all the way down to the defroster area, that makes no sense to me, as I have a 94 gauge cluster cover thingy and both of the things your arrows point to are one single molded piece on this...

No they're not. I have a 94 too. They're 2 pieces, held together by screws.

Could you provide better pics, Ramy? Like from the top angle?

The piece I have is one single solid piece. The only screws on here are at the very bottom holding the brackets on...
