FYI, AC dryers are no longer available from Mazda

I posted a couple pics and DIY on getting the AC system up to spec. The last thing I was planning on doing was replacing the AC dryer (the canister thing on the drivers side of the car by the battery) as mine has been sitting open to atmosphere for over a year.

I orginally ordered it from Mazdacomp but was told that it was no longer available but there might be some left at dealerships. I then called Ray Crowe who also confirmed that the dryers are no longer in production or available but might be able to order one from another dealer.

If you do plan to reuse yours and it has sat open to atmosphere, the dessicant in the dryer can become saturated with moisture. DamonB posted a suggestion to "bake" the dryer in an over to get as much of the moisture out before reinstalling it.

For the MANA AC systems, I believe there's a number of aftermarket ones. I've actually seen it listed on Advance Auto Parts' website. It's a pretty simple receiver/dryer - Mazda may not be stocking it since it's easier/cheaper to get an aftermarket one.

Matter of fact -

$50 and you're good to go .

Does that mean the cost of my extra one has just skyrocketed? First 5k takes it.
