Guys, after a fresh rebuild i have a funny ticking/whooshing sound going on. Its in time with the engine revs, and sounds almost like a tick tick tick tick tick tick but with a hint of whooshing air too (the ticks almost sound like mini air whooshes!) I also got a wierd screech just now when i started the car - both belts are tight.

Any ideas people? what should i check?

check all you vacuum lines and couplers...also check your spark plug wire to make sure the are not ripped, that's where you could be getting the tick sound...

 

If it makes the sound at idle, can you pinpoint the location in the engine bay? (Use a long screwdriver or hose)

It sounds as if its coming from under the UIM or down by the spark plugs to be honest, im going to do some more hunting for it tomorrow. Im going to test my spark plugs are in tight, and take off the pressure tank and inspect under the UIM, see if i can see anything.
