funky starter issues....
Okay, so I put my new starter in (which went back in surprising easier than it came out) and hit the switch.
Nothing.
I play with it a while and finally figure out that the "S" terminal on the starter is not getting juice when the switch is hit. On my car, since it is an automatic, this means one of two things, either the ignition switch is faulty or the transmission inhibitor switch is. I am leaning towards the inhibitor switch, as I rigged a simple push button start to the "S" terminal from the battery and the car starts just fine. However, with the normal connector off the "S" terminal, the airbag and brake warning lights stay on, and if I shift the gear selector up and down thru the gears, the airbag light will go off, on, off, on, etc.
So I teed off the "S" terminal, leaving the normal wire on and having my auxilliary push button wire on too, and everything works fine.
It is a major bitch to get to that inhibitor switch, I haven't even FOUND the damned thing yet, but it looks like it is on the passenger side, and the downpipe is in the way of easy access. So I might just leave things the way they are, though I HATE having ghetto-rigged **** like that.
Nothing.
