Fuel system help...

OK this is the deal. my car idles really bad and blows a white smoke. You can smell fuel but i cant really see any. And when i give it a little bit of gas and let go the RPM drops all the way down until it almost cuts off. Then when it does cut off or i turn it off, it wont start back. Dunno if its starving for fuel or flooding. what could it be? maybe fuel pump? fuel pressure regulator? fuel pulsation damper? i dont know help me out...

Do you have access to a wide band lambda? This will tell you whats happening.

Fuel smoke is normally black, water is white.

Check to see if you knocked the vacuum hose off of the MAP sensor. Small black box on fire wall to the driver's side.

rich conditions do not generaly cause white smoke.... think coolant or oil (usually bluish but can be hard to see.

are you loosing any coolant?
doing a compression test is quick
make sure all your plugs/wires are ok
sure you are getting spark?
