These guys said they will mod the maps on an upgraded oem ecu for $150.

http://www.technosquareinc.com/dealer.htm

Woud be best to have some wide band dyno runs 1st.

I think both pettit upgrades are same, except the unlimited boost in the one.

You will run richer with the Pettit ECU than the stock ECU. Are you saying the car is running too rich? If so, how are you measuring your A/F ratio?

Havnt really monitored it in any way just yet.. but it smokes at start up, its got that stench to it a bit when i drive it. The tip of my Cat-back is black after like a week of driving, Its got a bit of backfire a bit too..but i think thats the Cat, I think i need a new one. You think maybe an ApexAFC would be a good investment?

Sounds about normal. As I said, you'll run richer with the Pettit ECU.

For me though, my car used to backfire a lot and smoke quite a bit when first starting up. I had a gas odor problem that I was fixing, so while I had everything apart I also cleaned out my UIM and throttle body with some carb cleaner.

I was also replacing my spark plug wires at the time and found out that one of my leading coil wires had fused itself into the coil. I replaced the leading coil and then used dielectrical grease on both ends of the spark plug wire connections when I put them on.

Now, my car almost never backfires and there is barely a puff of smoke at start up.

Also, when as the last time you changed your spark plugs or O2 sensor?
