Question Fuel Pump delima

well my car was running fine a lil hard to start. now it wont start at all havent removed the fuel filter to check if it is the fule pump but i think it is. the delima is that im about to put 12000 into the damn thing and after i get my new turbo im gonna have to get a new higher pressure fuel pump. well i dont wanna buy a stock fuel pump just so i can drive to columbus ohio from louisville ky. how bad for the car would it be if i went ahead and got the fuel pump i will need for my upgrades and drove it on a stock set up?

buy the cosmo pump which will drop in and work great on your stock setup and then buy a Kenne Bell Boost A Pump when you upgrade. you will then not be running a 1000 h p pump around town until you need it and as soon as you go to boost the BAP raises the voltage
(up to 50% adj from the cockpit) and you will have all the fuel you need to 550 rwhp. do a search and visit the engineering rich website. i bought my cosmo pump from SR in 99... maybe you can get it from Ray Crowe at Malloy Mazda... best price/service.

good luck,

I seriously doubt it's the fuel pump - the stock pumps are REALLY hardy, unless you've tried to shove a ton of gravel through it or something .

Check all the other no-start culprits first - do some searching. You can also test the fuel pressure to rule out the pump. With a no-start, the fuel pump is one of the last things I'd check into.

it might not be the actual pump itself however the wires and connections take a beating inside the tank. Just recently i had some problems with the fuel pump and one of the wire was completely shreaded, dry, and cracked from fumes and use. So pull out the old fuel pump and assembly and check it first before you buy a new one.

If you have not changed your fuel filter lately, it is most likely the problem. Electric fuel pumps generally work, or don't work. They almost never work poorly.
