Fuel Pump on the 3rd Gen RX-7

My Fuel Pump went bad on my 1993 RX-7

Would like to find out - If this has happened to anyone else with their 3rd Gen RX-7 and did you replace it with a new one or a used one. And can they be repaired.

I found out - It was the fuel pump that became defective - I would try to star the car - Engine would crank but would not turn on - And I checking the after market Fuel Pressure gauge - There was no pressure going to the Fuel Pump.

You should make sure your pump has power. Check fuses and wiring.

If your car is stock, or will remain close to stock, just get a new oem pump. I wouldnt buy a used one. If you have a few upgrades, a supra pump is a good option. It fits perfectly, and will support a moderately upgraded system to at least 350 rwhp. I have been running the same supra pump for 13 years.

You should list your mods.

^ Agree on the Supra pump. I recently did this . And to clarify, it’s completely plug n play.

actually Nippon Denso has superseded the FD pump to the Supra pump, so they are now the same 951-0014 is the part number.

the in tank strainer is 952-0038 in Nippon Denso or JE17-13-ZE1 in Mazda

this might be a stupid question, but with a Supra fuel pump, do you need to wire in a relay? what happens if you don't?

No. Just install it the same as the old one. Nothing else to do.

Why not swap over to a walbro pump? I haven't bought one since 2010ish but I remember it being inexpensive and at the time it was the gold standard.

One can also do this.
I personally use a walbro pump in my FD, no issues to report.
