yeah when i wire it with a 9V battery it gets 9V,12V gets 12 and when the speed relay engages 14.6V from alternator.

But my resistor would definetly be stuffed if it is reading 0.00 ohms?
Also in the manual i saw it said something baout 20 degrees and tempreture mayb it is supposed to read 0.00 when the resistor is cold?? I just pulled it straight out of my car and tested it reads 0.00.

On my meter if there's no continuity I get a reading that denotes infinity (1 .) or something like that. I guess yours has something similar? From what you say it sounds like the resistor is not working at all, even when cold I would think there'd be resistence there. Could run the car for a bit with it in and then take it straight out and test it?

Didn't you say that you tried another resistor out?

yepp i tried another resistor same thing just reads 0.01 mayb i got 2 bad resistors cuz the other was pretty old 92 model rx. If u can be bothered can u test your resistor while cold and see if you have resistance?

Won't be able to do it today or tomorrow as I'm out and about working, but can try and take a reading on Friday if that's any help?

Wonder if anybody else here has a resistor to hand that could be tested? Would be interesting to find out what values they get.

Ok, no worries, will let you know what I find. As it happens I have some stuff I need to tidy up in the engine bay from my messing around.

Hey bro, just got back into town was away for a while, ive ordered a new resistor in from japan, to continue, i was saying about testing the resistor , did u get a chance to suss that out ? testing it while it is cold and warm? im more interested in the values you get while the car has been off and resistor is cold, if u can get back to me will be appriciated, thanx alot.

Yeah, I did manage to test the resistor, had to take the alternator out the other day to have it tested so measured the resistance while I was mucking around in the engine bay. Mine seems to be around the range mentioned in the FSM, car had been standing for most of the day - and it was bloody freezing too - so that's about as cold as it's going to get. Hope that helps...good to know the resistor is ok on mine too. Will be interesting to see what the value on your new one will be too.

Thanks for ur help and info thats took a load off, hopeuli this will fix my problem, i read in another forum somewhere if the resistor is fauly it will throw a fault code similar to the one im getting, but i still havnt managed to get my pump to prime when the key is in the on position. mayb its not supposed to prime... will let you know how the new resistor goes. cheers.

Hey bro been a while since the last reply, hows your car going? I Gave up on myne and bought a whole new computer/ignition setup with new coils and all that jazz but I was too lazy to put it in so I bought another FD and ive been driving that around since, hopefuli next year I can start building my other FD from scratch and get my turbo and rebuild my motor, Any new mods to your car?

Not going to bad thanks. Some guy rear ended mine and sent me into another car in front, so I've had a new front end (nose cone, bonnet) new exhaust system and full respray amoungst others smaller things.

I eventually nailed part of my original problem to a bad wire connection to the battery, cut the original and put in my own. It's been running great since then. :-)
