Fuel pressure gauge question

What should you watch for when monitoring a fuel pressure gauge? I know the standard stock fuel pump puts out about 35 GPH at the stock fuel pressure (36.3 psi) and under boost that pressure needs to increase by a psi for each psi of boost. But at what pressure can you determine that there is a problem or approaching a problem?

I guess basically I'm asking how do you interpret a fuel pressure gauge, what is the acceptable range under different levels of boost?

Well ideally, you'd watch it all the time. And you'd also watch your water temp all the time, and your rpm all the time, and your boost gauge... but you can't...

So I make three very basic checks while out driving.

1) Your idle fuel pressure is where it should be. Mine is at 28 PSI at idle.
2) Fuel pressure seems to rise with boost in a linear fashion
3) While under boost (especially full boost), fuel pressure does not peak and then start dropping.

Right, the major problem with an inadequate fuel system is pressure loss at upper RPMs. As long as it holds it's correct pressure to redline you good to go.
