Fuel pickup problem with Bosch pump
I recently installed the Bosch fuel pump. Now I'm having very annoying problems with getting fuel starvation during staight line acceleration. With the stock pump I never had this problem, even when the fuel gauge was on "E". Now I need to keep at least 1/2 a tank in there to prevent it. With a half tank or more there are no problems.
I eyeballed the position of the new pump to make the bottom of it at the same position as the stock one- its very close. Of course the new one doesn't have that white sock on it- is that just for straining the fuel (nothing to do with fuel pickup)?
I don't see why the fuel pickup would be so much different now. Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks

the bottom of the pump should be resting on the bottom of the tank, and did you do this: http://www.efini.net/images/fuel/pumpnut.JPG to the bottom of the pump so it could draw in fuel?
