Fuel hose kit alternatives and FPD related suggestions
Hi, this is my first time posting in here. Purchased my first FD about a month ago, bone stock black/black 1993 R1 with 80k miles that was never raced.
The next day after the purchase I found a couple loose vacuum lines, upon further inspection also smelled fuel from the engine bay and found even more disconnected vacuum lines.
I removed the rats nest and want to change/replace all of the potential fuel leak prone points in the engine bay.
Unfortunately, come to find out that Mazda doesn't offer the fuel hose recall kit for the FD anymore.
Does anyone know of any alternatives to this aside from buying each individual part or component separately? $$$$
Also, I'm on the fence about whether I should replace or eliminate the FPD. The OEM costs $150 on eBay and aftermarket one about $90. Anyone have any experience with aftermarket FPD's or possibly a lead for a good budget aftermarket FPR kit that would work well in this car?

you can get a hose kit that's all silicone hosing and just go to town. Silicone Hose Kits - 5 colors

Has anyone done an FPD elimination without the aftermarket fuel pressure regulator?
I read some threads about this but still have a very moot point of view on the subject. Would love to hear from people with first hand experience, or about any concrete known issues from going that route.
If I could still get the fuel hose recall kit for $90, I would've just replaced everything and be done with it. Otherwise, have a hard time justifying spending $150 for OEM FPD just to risk it leaking again down the road. Would really appreciate some experienced opinions on this.
My plan is to keep this car stock and even race it in stock form, so not really looking for any aftermarket parts unless it would really improve reliability and be justified. Thank you in advance

I recommend vacuum hose from boostcontroller.com. Any quality fuel injection hose can be cut and used to replace the stock houses. On the stock ecu I have noticed a slightly less smooth idle when deleting the fpd. Its not noticeable on cars with an aftermarket ecu. As far as racing the car stock, heat will be your enemy. At the very least you should replace the precat with a downpipe, eliminate the ast, and upgrade the radiator to a quality aluminum unit like Koyo. An FC fan switch is also a great idea.

Also, I have been trying to stop by your shop to bring my car in but my work load has not allow me to. At what time you close during the week? Are you open on Saturday?
There really is no good kit. The kits just had various lengths of hoses in each size. You still need to measure and cut it to length yourself. Most of the solenoid rack and other hoses are 3.5mm. 25-30ft should do it. you will also need some 6mm and 8mm for the pcv, breather, and some of the larger hoses. 5 ft of those should do. DO NOT use silicone vacuum hose for pressurized coolant or the brake booster hoses. It will fail. We are open Monday-Friday 10-6 but I am usually here until 7 at least. If you give me a heads up I can try to accommodate. I don't really do weekends, especially in the summer as I am usually down the shore with family.
