fuel gauge

hey, I just put in a fuel pump from a supra tt.. while the assembly was out of the car, the fuel gauge worked fine... but now that we put it back in the car, the fuel gauge doesnt work.. the needle seems pegged to the bottom (IE way past empty).. any ideas?

When you put it back together you got the float rotated down and around backwords - pull it out an swing it up so it can float to the top of the tank correctly. - I had an old Chevy PU that when the tank was less than 1/4 full the float would get pushed around the wrong way when cornering to the right and then jam on empty. on the Chevy I could un-jam it by running the tank down nearly empty and then filling the tank with it leaned over to the right w/the left wheels up on the curb..
