You should do what gotham did to mine and relocate it on the rear sub frame so it's easy to get to and change. just a thought for the next time

You can also relocate it to the engine bay. Fuel flow keeps it cool. I have never had vapor problems, and fuel filter cleaning takes ~15 minutes with no fuel spilled, no crawling under the car. I clean mine every other oil change, you wouldn't BELIEVE the crap that comes off. Dirty as hell, man! No wonder the injectors clog... I run the K&N small billet style filter. Larger unit would make sense for the aftermarket high flow boys (mostly stock here...).

I'll have to dig for the pic, and it's prolly been loaded on before, so more digging...

I used the curved S shaped hose to take the place of the filter. The hose is right there, though that damn pumpkin makes it hard to get to. That's why I moved the thing.

To clean the filter, which is a 10 micron or so wire mesh, I soak it in Techroline fuel system cleaner in a glass jar with a TIGHT lid for a couple days (I have two filters, they're just metal discs, so I just swap them and then clean the other after a few days), then go after it with a toothbrush in a little dish with more of the Techroline. Cleans right up (even checked it under a microscope to be sure... I'm so wierd!), flows great afterward. I can usually feel when it's getting dirty.. the engine starts to feel less rev happy. Kind of like a spark plug change. Anyway, I have pics of the filter mounted, and the filter element before cleaning... I'll try and get them up tonight. I don't have any pics of the bypass over the differential, but it isn't hard. I will say that I just recently replaced my diff bushings, and dropped the diff the two or three inches possible when you un bolt it from the subframe. I had lots of room to see the filter bypass I did, and it would have made the process MUCH MUCH easier. It isn't hard at all to drop the diff down so the axles rest on the bump stops.. jimlab did a write up int he suspension section. A couple pics soon then...
