Fuel Economy?

1st Question: Are there any engine mods that will improve fuel economy?

2nd Question: Let's say that I already have a PFS Intake, Intercooler and Exhaust, is there anything I could do to improve my FDs' fuel efficiency? (Obviously going back to stock would be out of the question!)

Dunno if this really works, but some of my friends after intalling the Tornado thing seen on TV, they have seen theirs gas mileage gone up a lot... if anyone else who has install this on theirs FD..maybe give us some feedbacks.

Most performance mods will also help your fuel economy if the driving conditions stay the same. Only problem(and I think we all have it) is that once you do all these mods you start driving like a bat out of hell. Try driving like a grandma for a week and see what your economy is then.

So, would a high flow pre cat and a downpipe, with an added computer along with my current engine mods give me better fuel efficiency? (Obiviously, I maintain posted driving speeds! )

I have learned not to get concerned with fuel economy with this car. But, if you keep the RPM's below 3000 I have found that I can stretch a tank of gas over 200 miles...I average 160 miles on a full tank, Lead Foot.

Talking how i increase fuel economy

install and use your boost gauge... when accelerating try not to go over 0 psi.. of course you accelerate as fast as a minivan but since your running little or no boost the computer wont inject a bunch of fuel to compensate. works wonders.

Can you say sugar pill? The theory behind these things is that spinning air will mix better with the fuel when it's injected however I would ask how air will continue to spin through turbos and an intercooler? (Units are installed in the intake tubes.) Perhaps in a NA car but not a Rx-7. There have even been tests (one in SCC for example) that proved no increase in mpg or hp. Even the Tornado web site had no hard stats as of a year ago when I looked at it last. Just lots of testimonials of people saying "it feels faster". BS if you ask me especially when most people can't even tell the difference between a few hp.

If you want high mpg take it from somebody who knows how to get absurd mpg out of their car. I get 21 average and have seen close to 30. The trick is to not get on the boost or above 3K rpm. Driving at just under 3K rpm seems to be ideal. Also try to drive steady i.e. don't change speeds a lot. In traffic use your breaks as little as you can by not tailgating and coasting a bit before you break. As far as mods the best thing you can do is keep your plugs fresh.

Really though as others said it shouldn't be a concern. The only reason I get high mpg is because I drive my car every day and don't feel the need to play all the time. I keep that type of thing on the track, where my mpg is probably less than 10.

Really fellas,
I'm just trying to create a plausible(?) method of getting my FD modded up without paying for it! I am thinking that I can write off my engine modifications come tax time next year, because they (the mods) increase the fuel efficiency in my car (the means to my various independent contracting sites)!
Any other ideas?
