hello restoringa shell and the fuel door latch just wont open , the trunk opens fine but the fuel does does nothing I took the seats / carpet out but I cant seem to find out how exactly it works is there any pictures or diagrams or anything I could go off of ? thanks

 

neeevermind I GOT IT....
its not push inwards its push inwards and DOWN! *facepalm *

 

Just for future reference the cable run directly under the tool kit compartment on the drivers side hatch area. Just under the foam tray is a black cable, pull it away from the fuel door and it should open right up.

 

Once you have it "open", you can slightly bend the piece and it will now POP open when you press the lever. Like anything, it is old and tired but can be renewed.
