Mint 1995 interior plastics and one off 240mph Speedo pricing???
Hey guys,
So with the new LCD gauge cluster I'm going to run, I have to modify the factory gauge cluster. Since my car's a 95, it's got the much better textured interior plastics and I don't want to ruin them by hacking them up so I'm looking at selling all of the interior plastics and swapping to 93 plastics that will then be covered in Dinoc. These are off of a 95 with 13k miles. It was driving for just over a year and then garaged since 98 so these are as mint as they come without buying new. The cigarette lighter has been replaced with an S2000 start button also.
Another customer touch is that Jim had the cluster sent out to New Zealand back in 2001 and custom calibrated and converted to 240mph. Here's what he wrote about it:
The stock gauges were sent to New Zealand in 2001 and were reprinted and recalibrated. Factory illumination was retained.
The speedometer top speed was increased to 240 mph and is calibrated to 8,000 ppm @ 60 mph if memory serves, but I'll have to check my notes. Stock is 8,2xx, I think.
The tachometer was calibrated to 1/2 stock for the LT1 tach signal. The input will have to be doubled to work with an LS tach signal.
All that is required to make these function in any car are Dakota Digital speedo/tach conversion boxes.
You won't find this conversion anywhere else so this is a nice one off piece that still looks absolutely factory.
I would be willing to seperate the cluster from the plastics if it would help sell either one. The plastics being sold would be the gauge cluster, hood, AC panel, center console and door pieces.
I'm not really sure how much these would go for so that's why I'm making this thread. What do you guys think? If anyone is interested you can PM me and we'll talk. Everything is currently out of the car now so if you're serious, I can have it on it's way to you if the price is right.
thanks guys,
Matt

You're joking right? The reason there are even different interior plastics is because the 93's finish sucks ***. How many threads talk about refinishing 93's? Now go find 1 talking about having to refinish a 95. I know you can get them new, if you want to pay new prices. Obviously I'm not going to ask what the dealership charges...

My point in mentioning that you can get 94+ pieces new is that they aren't exactly rare so you not wanting to "ruin" the newer interior plastics isn't that big of a deal.
Not sure. The previous owner (jimlab) had it done. It's just a cool little feature.
I understand that portion of it. But most people here have refinished theirs to look like stock so the 94+ plastics give them the benefit of not having to go through that or worrying about scratching in the future etc.
It's not about rare necessarily. It's about having a set of used panels that aren't going to cost you an arm and a leg from the dealer. There were less than 500 95's made so the total amount of full interior plastics available in the used market are slim.
No I'm not. I don't think you get what I'm saying. For your purposes, even if you didn't prep the surface on the 93, any adhesive you used would have more surface area than a 94+ piece. I've spoken to alot of people and even had my interior pieces done. People prefer to prep the 93 pieces over the newer ones. I'm not saying that people are complaining about the newer pieces. I'm saying that if people wanted to modify them (especially if it's a special surface you're going for) the 93 pieces are the ones to use.

My point from the beginning was that if you are looking to have a better than stock finish (94+) the 93s are better to work with. Some people swear they find easy ways to remove that rubbery material on the 93s. I know your saying that people would rather replace their 93s with 94+ pieces. Sure this is defintely true but these people can find 94+ pieces easily and demand is satisfied easily. Finding 93 pieces to mod is a bit trickier because they are "easy" to redo and people just choose to do that alot of the time. Finding mint 93 pieces is even harder. This is why I think the 93s are more in demand.

I can see your point about availability. But I disagree on finding used sets of 94+ plastics so easily. So agree to disagree.
I'm really looking for someone who'd rather not refinish their set of 93's to swap me theirs + some cash. I can sell the gauge cluster together or seperate.
