Fuel Comp/Boost Control/Port Wastgate

Ok - I am slowly looking into mods to pile into my car over the winter while it is stored.

From searching and watching threads for the past while, I have a little confusion with respect to the fuel and boost control to avoid overboosting and running lean.

I understand that after switching to a 3" DP,MP,CB, that I may run lean and need to change my ECU or add a piggyback FC.

Then I went onto learn that I would need a boost controller to avoid boost spikes.

Just recently, I got the impression from a post that boost controllers arent really much help in controlling boost unless you port the wastegate...

So - please help me understand... are any of the above comments incorrect or inaccurate? If they are not, when I go to a full exhaust or more(intake etc), I essentially have to do all 3 mods of porting, FC, and boost controller....

So really the rule is a 2 mod rule, after 2 mods, you gotta jump to 6 mods to be entirely safe?

Thanks for any advice...

you can run all three mods (intake, dp, cb) on a stock ecu as long as you keep the boost levels at 10 psi w/ a boost controller. you could either buy an electronic one or get a manual boost controller (home depot).
once you get a midpipe however, you need to port the wastegate or add restrictor plates in your exhaust to restrict the airflow.
porting the wastegate will avoid you having boost creep (seeing 14 psi) at transition.
i would avoid a fuel computer and buy a stand alone one like the power fc.
