Free mods for a Newbie

Racing Beat air duct and K&N airfilter

By giving these 2 things away, I hope to get some new 3rd gen RX7 owner addicted to modifying his FD just as I have. If you have a stock or near stock car and are ready to start down the yellow brick road that many of us are now on, send me a Private Message with your story. The first good story gets it.

If you just want to learn about the RB Duct, go to:

http://www.rx7turboturbo.com/robrobinette/

and

http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/

For me, this was my first mod, and I felt a difference. Please don't tell me that it robs air from the IC, or PM with a bunch of questions about how much power it makes. I know it is not the best intake out there, but it's free. If I can ship it for under 10 bucks, I'll even pay that up too. If its more, then its the recipient's responsibility.

Disclaimer: These are third hand. The Duct has a crack in it near where it meets the intercooler duct, but it works fine. The edges of the molding on the K&N filter have been shaved so that it will fit in the stock airbox without breaking the 3 loops on the left side of the box. There is silicone sealant around the edges of the Duct, and I'm not going to clean it off... actually, I'm not going to clean it at all. That's all you - but I warn you it will never be pretty. It's a good mod for the street or autocrossing, but I wouldn't advise using it at the track.

Patrick was the first to PM me...

... but I want to make sure this stuff is going to a deserving home.

Patrick, I like the fact that you are ready to modify your car before you even buy it. This shows the kind of sickness and addiction I now have with this car - It just warms my heart to see that I'm not the only one. Before you know it you'll be going to RA meetings (Rotorheads Anonymous) and saying **** like:

"I've been modding my FD since the day I had it"
"[insert any reference to getting more boost]"

So you don't even have your car yet? Have you already bought it and are just picking it up? Give us the details. I wouldn't want to send you the stuff then have your deal on the car fall through, therefore depriving someone else of a hit off the go-fast-crackpipe while the stuff sits in your garage unused.

Wink

The deal is done. I am picking up the car on Friday.

I am sick. I placed an order yesterday with RX-7 store after I finalized the deal with the owner.

I will probably have performance parts on my door step before I have a car in the driveway.

Is that wrong???

Thanks Coulthard...

If anything were to happen...and the deal falls through (don't see how it would...shutter). I will send the stuff back to you.

Just some background... I am a huge car freak. I have had a bunch of cars...Honda, DSM, etc.

My daily driver is a Contour SVT. The 7 is going to be a project/weekend car to mess with...

Let me know..

Later,
Patrick

Sending them out today...

... if Patrick picked up his car.

As soon as Patrick tells me that he has taken delivery of his new-to-him FD, my secretary will ship him the free mods. Thank you all for playing. Sorry to those who were on the waiting list.

Patrick,

Hopefully since you've had other performance cars, you're aware of the need to make sure that all systems are functioning properly before starting the mods. Not questioning your judgement/abilities but I hate to see another Rx7 owner start out having problems that could be avoided with maintenance first.

You already found a good place with the Forum to get advice and links to good information but I caution you to read take people's advice with a grain of salt - not all info on here is 100% correct.

Congradulations on your purchase. Happy rotoring.
