I'm assuming you actually are a mechanic... but from my understanding to put a mechanics lein on something you need a bill of some sort for the work being performed. Additionally I don't think the state of mass. is going to be very happy when they find out you're doing car work under the table and skirting all the taxes that should be going to them
, I'd be cautious before alerting them to that fact...
And I'm not sure how your dealership does things, but anytime I've had a dealership work on something for me they always require a signature to authorize the work before anything begins...
I highly doubt you are going to get this car for free, I think your best bet is to track down the owner (or his family) and charge them for the storage fee's. Good luck with however it turns out though, definitely a shitty situation.

I talked to my boss he said he had this happen to hime a couple of times since hes been a gm for a dealership for over ten years....so he said give the vin on the car and ill take of it if the owner does not clain the car in 30 more days from the day i talk to the rmv about it the will sent me a title as a dealer car and the he will jusy sell me the car for $1 and ill be able to have a title under my name.
As much as im happy you're trying to get another FD, please be considerate of whats happening here.
First off.
I would try to contact the owners family to get the whereabouts of that person.
This can be done by simply looking at the registration or doing a vin check on who the car is registered to and go from there.
Now i feel this should work IF the guy is actually alive and well.
BUT god forbid that person actually died, you dont get ****. So dont even get your hopes up.
If he is still paying makings to that FD, the car gets immediately repossessed by the creditor. If the car is paid off, the car goes to a spouse (if that spouse is living). If no spouse, car goes to family member if he has any left (and of age) to acccept this car.
If he has a big family and no one can come to an agreement of new possession, it will be liquidated or sold off, like an auction or some sort.
So basically im saying in your favor but also in your defense, find out at least where the guy is before you proceed in trying to keep his car. If he's alive, then i guess its really up to him to get his car back, if not, your plan should work.
If he's dead (god forbid), sorry man but you're not getting anything except a big frown when you find out you're not getting the car.

I really hope nothing happened to this kid..... i been trying to contact him but he never picks up i found some of his freinds and none of them know where he is either....... one of his friend said that they went to his house and hes never there also told me that he lives here in the USA on his own and his family are in china.
i cant find a registration for the car and theres no plates on it... i mean he used to call me everyday to check up on the work i was doing to his car and then he never called again...i been callin him 2 times a day for the past 2 month...
my boss said hes gonna take the car off my habds and get a title for it.... somthing about if a car was left with you and the owner never came back for it you can claim its been abandoned and some how get a title for it.... he said hes done it before..
My dad has done this before, the laws are different in each state im sure. But long story short. a car was left with him, and he couldn't get in contact with the owner for over a year and a half. My aunt worked at the secretary of state (DMV in michigan) and she told him to make an abandoned vehicle claim. in the time of the claim the michigan secretary of state gives the owner a chance to claim the car. i think after something like 30 days it becomes the person's who made the claim. at the end of the story my dad got a 77 chevelle and the owner never contacted him. But my dad said that if the owner ever came back he would give the car back, but no use for it to go to waste sitting still.
good luck
good luck
i suggest change it into your name as you suggested and if he comes back sell it back to him for the money he owes you. that would be fair and honest. it would not be fair on you to continue storing it in the likelihood that he may never return
i like that idea if the car becomes mine and he shows up somday for it ill only give it back if he pays me what he owes me.....good thinking ORX705
you don't need to be a mechanic to get a lien sale...
all you need to do is go to the DMV, fill out the lien sale paper work (its probably 40 dollars)... they will contact the last registered owner... if they don't get a response after 30 days... you can then register it in your name

Well the owner emailed me today and he went to china 3 month ago.. for personal reasons.... he said that his friend thats is in the U.S is going to mail me the title for the car. And that I can sell the car as a roller with no engine or part it out or just keep it for myself. for the money that he ows me in labor and storage fees..... The title should reach me in a few weeks. So i will be taken offers on the car.. PM me for details on car and price...1993 fd3s.
I ALREADY HAVE A 94 FD AND ITS MINT.... CANT REALLY AFFORD ANOTHER ONE PLUS HAVE NO WHERE TO KEEP THIS CAR.
