Found out why I had a "Bad Day at the Track!"

Finally got my car back together after blowing up my diff housing 3 weeks ago. When we lowered the broken diff housing out of the car we noticed the ring gear was not pressed tight against the diff. Turns out when I had the new 4.30 gears installed 2 months ago something was not done correctly when the bolts were tightened down. The mechanic did not use lock tight and all the bolts pulled loose. I am just thankful that the thing broke while launching and not while I was going 125 mph down the track...

I will be talking to my mechanic this week...

I've seen this same thing happen at an auto-x after a car had gears put in it. I specifically told the guys putting my 4.33 gears in to make SURE to put locktite on those bolts, time will tell if they did.

Glad to hear you found out why it broke.

That is a damn shame . You should be able to get your money since it was the fault of the mechanic . Hopefully you can get back some money or a discount on the repair .

Anyways, hope you get in back on the road soon :burnout:
