Question Fouled Plugs and add coolant light stays on

I've got two problems. I just bought a '93 RX7 TT with 72,xxx on it. After getting it home it would not start anymore. I put new plugs on it and it started but ran like crap and smoked alot!

At this time it won't start anymore and the plugs seem to be drenched in fuel. To make it even better the add coolant light comes on immediately and stays on, but the coolant is full and not leaking.

All comments and help are appreciated, I can't find a mechanic that will work on the car and seem to be stuck with it now, please HELP!

Ok what color is the smoke, White and smells sweet or blackish and smells like gas?? Are you sure the plugs are covered with fuel or could it have been coolant?

It's brownish black smoke (sometimes blue), and the smoke doesn't smell of gasoline. The plugs are covered with fuel not coolant.

Cool no coolant on the plugs.... There a little black box on the firewall on the drivers side.. look for "sensor-boost" on the top, t has one hose and a wire connector... make sure the hose is connected

I found the sensor boost box, does the hose part hook to the bottom of the box? If so, there isn't a hose there, nor do I see one anywhere around it. Where does the hose come from?

Change your rad cap on the AST. I was blowing coolant into the overflow and the light was coming on until I changed to a new cap.

Yes the hose connects to the bottom of the box and it come from under the manifold,, fish around back there and you should find it. the hose should have a small round filter on it. hook it up and that should make the car run much better!

next the coolant light... where are you checking the coolant? open the "filler neck"(When the engine is cool) It's the cap right behind the Intercooler look for "caution filler cap" and fill with water/ coolant. If that turns the coolant light off,, You'll need to "Burp" the coolling system.

Upper right hand corner of pic.. This is the MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) Sensor. Trace the hose.. you'll find it.

I had the same problem with the coolant light coming on. If the level is ok you might want to check the water level sensor below the cap on the neck. Its the one with the plug not the single wire I believe, its been 5 years since this happened. mine broke in half but did not fall off the neck so it looked like it was ok till I started checking the wires. replaced it and problem went away.

I have coolant in both filler necks and the plastic guage in the overflow says I'm good there too. I'll check the sensor that 're rotary7' mentioned when I get home from work.

I did not see the MAP sensor hose last night, but then it was dark. I'll look for that more thoroghly when I get home in eight hours.

This forum has been a big help. I'm still learning the terms etc. but I appreciate that I have some direction to look in to get this baby running again. THANKS!
