Most people stealing your FD probably just want to go joy riding in it, after a few days of trashing the car it'll just get dumped somewhere
Really worrying about getting a car stolen is sort of like worrying about being mugged. As long as you don't park the car someplace it shouldn't be parked (yes this means if you live in a big city and go clubbin' you shouldn't just park on some dark street) the odds of it getting stolen are really low. Even with precaution you should still have insurance so worst case is you're out a few weeks while stuff gets settled.

what is a 530? in anycase, i feel the same way with my fd and my neighborhood; if someones gonna steal a car in my neighborhood, its gonna be that NSX, Porsche turbo 911, vipers, Z06, multipul new M3's, multipul 500/600 series benzs all parked out on the street. why the hell would someone go after my old FD??? The rims+tire combos on some of these cars around me are worth more then my entire FD is alone!
just get good insurnace and use common sense

set my rev limiter to 1000 rpm whever i get out...( power fc). Got a motion sensor in my garage when closed hooked up and it rings my cell phone. Only my family knows how to deactivate the sensor when inside... I would love to unload my glock 27 by the way..HAHAHAH

Now I jam my jack handle into the garage rail and I've removed all handles from the outside of the garage. Plus I've got a keyed battery switch that I turn off and remove the key if I'm not going to be driving the car. I remember a random story about a car alarm used in South Africa that activates flame throwers on either side of the car. Yeah, that sounds about right. Stay safe all.

I always try to park the car where I can see it at all times when I'm out. If that fails, I wont take the car OR I take the fuel fuse out.
Never leave valuables in the car, and unforutenly fancy stereos and cd decks are always prime tarkets. I kept the stock stereo becaue of this.
Fancy paint jobs, rims, body kits, will attract attention also.
This is why my car LOOKS stock

Ash, most states don't have many cruisers equipped w/ Lo-Jack tracking equipment. But pretty much every state as SOME. Ever seen an unmarked Crown Vic w/ four huge antennas on the trunk? That's your Lo-Jack tracking vehicle.
iluvmy3rdgen, how would you hook up a Lo-Jack system to your own receiver? If I understand correctly, Lo-Jack is off until it's tripped (the car moves w/o the transmitter there). When that happens, it contacts you, but the Lo-Jack system itself isn't active...you have to call them to activate it and enable tracking. If you know a way it can def. be done, that would be money. I'm all ears...
IMO, there's only three things you need to worry about.
1) Stolen parts: don't leave the car in a not-so-visible place, or a shady place for that matter. An alarm definitely works here, since it'll bring unwanted attention, which may hinder someone's decision to stick around. Note: If you're going to install an alarm, DO NOT install it the normal way (w/ the central unit under the dash/steering column, etc). Theives know the components and wiring diagrams of ALL the major alarms. The only way you can tilt things in your favor is to go w/ a custom install and power supply so they won't be able to find the wires to cut an disable the siren & ignition kill.
2) Theft via driving the car away: probably the simplest to tacke. Alarm ignition kill is a must. If you cut the wire, the ignition remains disabled until the alarm is disabled (ditto if your battery dies
) The Autolock is a great tool too, on the clutch (manuals) or brake (autos). If you wanna get real fancy, perhaps an upgraded ignition that recognizes an electronic key (like my 99 Maxima) may be a smart route. Fancy fuel pump cuts and relays aren't necessary, esp when you can just pull out the fuse or relay as someone said earlier. So cheap it's free
3) Theft via towing: this is everyone's worst nightmare. They came at 2am, put some tow dolleys, and rolled the car out. In and out in 10 min flat. This is where an alarm equipped w/ INTERNAL motion sensors is great (external ones are freakin annoying...they go off everytime a gust of wind passes by lol). Having the sensors hooked up to a siren MAY help, but your best bet is to have some tracking/retrieval system too. Lo-Jack is great, but you can't operate it yourself. They do claim a 100% success rate, however. A GPS system like the one Clifford offers is great too.
Lastly, Peter, believe it or not, me and you should be the most worried, because if you live in a "bad" neighborhood (like where I go to school), you're most likely victim to "glass-break alley," ie just some hoodlums trying to scalp whatever's accesible in your car in under 30 seconds. CDs, headunits, books, you name it. If you live in a "nice" neighborhood, no dumbass from the ghettos is gonna try and mess w/ your car. In fact, he'll stand out like a sore thumb. You're more likely looking for good old Johnny boy who's dad is a corporate bigshot, and Johnny is a professional, w/ a tow truck, alibi, and chop shop setup.

U guys are so lucky to have ur car stolen.
I wish some tard would steal mines.
At 250k miles, my insurance company told me that they would give me $13.5K for it + the $$$ for the mods.
It's a very different story if I try to sell it.

Oh and I forgot to mention in my last post: ppl BE SMART. DON'T ADVERTISE WHAT YOU HAVE. Putting a "Viper" sticker on your car basically tells the guy scoping your car exactly what wiring manual he needs to know. Plz don't do that lol. A LED light is enough to let ppl know it's got an alarm (and if you arm it as you walk away, they'll notice).
Wow this sounds like what happened to me.
I had some stupid kid come by my house about 4 times , snopping around , then one day when i got home , i was walking to my front door and I was behind bushs , and I saw the kid with his friends get out of their cars , so I pop around and asked what the hell is going on. They replyed , oh we just looking at your car .. ehh nice car , cya. So far I;ve caught him 4-5 times going out of his way to go in my Cul-De-Sac ...

why did someone post this? My FD sits out front of my house every night WITHOUT an alarm. It has stock alarm but nothing yet. It will soon have a viper. But i just got it on the road and havnt gotten the alarm put in yet. And there are tons of hoodlems that stroll around here and think they are hot ****. One time they thought they were cool because they threw apple jacks on the front of my FD

You see i have the worst problem of all of yall. Because i have no garage theres no way i can keep my fd safe. one of the most important 3 devices i was thinking about is the tracking system. The alarm system with the beeper so the beeper goes off when your alarm does. and the ignition kill switch so they cant take your car,
But one thing ive noticed about Miami is that the ones that steal from you. You know exactly who it is! and thats the truth.
but the worst problem of all that i have is being jacked while your on your way to your car or while your in your car! that i really am most afraid of. unless he doesnt have a gun!
And for one i wouldnt have a gun in my house. If i would (and i got a high temper) i might use it. thats why i got my trusty metal bat!

Car alarms are effective to a certain point. If you know anything about them then you know that they are easily bypassed. I recommend getting to know your neighbors. They see and notice things that you sometimes can't and don't. It might sound corny but neighborhood watches also help. Two of my neighbors are police officers so they are always watching out along with the other neighbors. It also comes down to common sense, if you have alot of $ in your car garage it. And pay the home alarm company to install a sensor for the large garage door to monitor as well, like I did. Its about 100 bucks extra and to me is well worth the reassurance. Another thing don't leave your garage door remotes in the vehicles that are parked outside. They can steal those. Also try to park other cars in the driveway to block your Rx7. This is a good strategy especially if you park your Rx7 in the driv way and not in the garage, but is good for both situations. That way it'll be just that harder to steal your 7. Sure might be a pain in the morning to move the other cars out the way before pulling your 7 out, but at least it'll be there in the morning. Good lighting is also a must. Flood lights with motion sensors MOUNTED OUT OF REACH are very effective. I use to be a police officer so I know. But I'm also from Texas so you know about us Texans, we all have guns and we ain't affraid to use them. Yee Hah..!! J/K Seriously if I ever catch anyone messing with my vehicles or any of the neighborhood vehicles they will surely meet my friends Mr. Glock and Mr. HK. If they don't like them I can introduce them to Mr. shotgun and Mr. ASP. :-)
heheh, theres way more nicer cars in my neighboorhood to jack, these people a few houses away from me and across the street got 2 rolls royces and they park them on the street. plus theres only a few shady people that hang around here and none of them are the car jacking type

Think about why the #1 stolen car in America is a Toyota Camry/Honda Accord. Cuz there's a MILLION of them, low profile, and an excellent second-hand parts market. RX7's definitely are not on the high end (ie too much trouble to steal), but they're def. not on the low end either. Also keep in mind that virtually any car that's considered in the sports car/import tuner category is a prime target because it's got a huge parts sale network. So RX7s, Supras, NSXs, IS300s, etc, you name it, are all likely targets.

They do this all the time, some fukin choda boys buy tow trucks and make it look like a shop's tow truck and they tow cars like they were told to do so by the owner. My friend with a GSX almost got his car towed away but then his friends on the block noticed it then told him to **** off cuz they know he wouldn't tow his car. His response, "oh~ i think I got the wrong car then." Man~ get the **** outa here.

For all of you that are not concerned about getting your RX7 stolen, I urge you to reconsider. If you are fortunate enough to live in a nice neighborhood or have expensive alarm good for you but you should not assume that more expensive cars will get stolen first. There are people looking for rare parts from our cars and also people looking to export them. FDs are also on the top of the list most people would like to joyride. I am glad to hear that most of you are informed and prepared, but I if this thread can prevent at least one 7 from being stolen, or get at least one ******* shot in the process or attempting to steal one, it was worth it.
