Foam in oil filler neck
I did a search and found that many people were having this same problem, but mine is a little different.
I am still getting this foam down the filler neck even after a long drive and the engine has had plenty of time to warm up. Also last night my buddy was following me and when I got on it and then let off I spit a nice cloud of white smoke all over his car that chocked him out. It never spit white smoke again the rest of the night, so that was kind of weird.
Also I am still experiencing the small oil leak that posted in another thread, so I dont know if these two problems are one in the same.
The engine was just rebuilt and has like 2500 miles on it, so I hope this is nothing major.

The other threads said that it wasnt though?
I just want to make sure it isnt something major. I am a big freak about motors and since the engine was just rebuilt I dont want to have any problems with it. I want it to be mechanically sound, at least for a little while.
I know a little smoke is normal, but my buddy who used to have an FD even thought that was a little strange all the foam down the filler neck. It was like a cream or off white color.

I think that it is a ventillation problem.
I had the creamy colored stuff in both of my FD, a brand new one and now the 2nd one with a 1000 miles on the reman engine. Also, I suspect that lot of the small oil leaks around the oil pan and other places are similarly related to ventillation.
I tested my PCV valve by blowing though it and noticed a certain amount of resistance before the valve popped open in the pass direction. I suspect that the pressure requirement to open it is sufficient to create crank case ventillation problems.
Since, I did a crude patch job on my oil pan leaks without taking off the pan, and placed a piece of cloth over the oil filler neck with a rubber band around it ( to temporarily replace the filler cap) to provide plenty of ventillation. I did this about 500 miles back and since, I do not have the creamy deposit in the oil filler neck nor any oil leaks.
The white smoke is typical of wide open exhausts (cat backs) and results from condensation. I have that evey time I start the car until the condensation burns up. If I place my stock muffler, or even a slightly more restrictive cat back on, no more white smoke.

So I am not going to need to take it back to get the guy to fix it? It will just go away? Or is there some easy fix to it?
I just dont want anything to happen to my brand new motor or my baby.

And the Revolution...
I'm having the same problem but its not nearly to the extent of that. Whenever I check my oil I have some of the exact same foam on the dipstick and inside the dipstick neck. The oil smells a little gassy of course cause I'm running rich but I don't want this to be dangerous to my engine's health. I just changed the oil and filter too. It was doing it before and it didn't really make a difference after the change. Aaron Cake said it wasn't a good thing to have this **** in your engine. I don't have emissions stuff either. The nipple on the oil filler neck is not capped. I need an answer soon cause I'm about to block off the OMP and see if that makes a difference.

Brand new RX-8's have the same oil foam in the cap and neck - it's TOTALLY normal. It's simply condensation mixed with oil vapors.
Nothing to worry about, and it won't hurt anything.

I started a new thread, but I probably should have added it in here. Basically I have this rubber tubing that runs from the oil filler neck to a pcv looking valve and it doesnt connect to anything. I cant find where it goes too, and oil is leaking out of that. I will take a picture and post it.
Also I am pushing thick puffs of white/grey smoke from my car under hard runs. Anybody behind me during a hard run gets covered in smoke. It only last through the initial accelaration. Is this all normal as well?
Thanks.

Yah I see no oil in the coolant. No bubbles in the coolant when the engine is on, and its a pretty fresh rebuild. I am almost convinced it isnt a coolant seal.
I also just changed my oil and it was purely oil, no coolant or water in it. I will post a pic of the tube tomorrow and see what people think.
I am jsut very paranoid, and want to make sure that I know if I need to get them to go back and redo the engine. I think everything is fine I am just being very paranoid.
