FMIC Kit requires rebar/bumper support Removal, Opinions??

Just curious if anyone is running this fmic kit. I have read and heard alot of good things about them. To run this setup you must remove the bumper rebar and drill the tach welds out for the lower radiator/bumper support. I have seen this on alot of other big fimic kits. I had to loose the the rebar on my Eclipse for a similar large fmic kit. But I have never seen anyone remove the actual lower radiator support. After looking at the upper radiator support on my FD. It dosnt look very strong and is weak compared to the lower one. Just wondering if anyone is running this kit or if any of the other fmic kits require the same mods. Thanks

If your worried about removing the rebar then go with the Greddy FMIC. You can keep the rebar, its cheaper and you dont have to do any welding.

I would recommend just buying a name brand kit like the Greddy or Apexi. The end tank design on that intercooler is rather poor for good flow, and looks to require a lot of effort to install.

You just have to trim it a little, but you can still use it.

ive installed the greddy fmic before. getting it on the car is fairly easy. you only remove about 2/3 of the cross section from the support so the top of the fmic can fit up inside of it. if you dont care, you can just cut the entire center section out and leave the ends of it intact. btw, if you have a "black" support, wear long sleeves and gloves. the fiberglass in it will irritate your skin for a few days if you dont.

Would the same be true for the V-Spec core? I'm assuming the the V-Spec is better based off price?

The V spec core lets a little more air pass thru to the radiator. The M spec is a bar and plate design. Both of them work well.

Why is it better? Does it fit without modification like the Greddy one?

Yeah, you don't have to take the front bumper off. It sits fairly far back, so its hard to tell there is a FMIC (which i like), plus when i went from a SMIC to the blitz FMIC my water temps stayed the same, even in summer time.

Its better because there's no gap between the intercooler and radiator. no air escapes between the two
