FMIC installed, whad I screw up?

Alright I finally got my Blitz FMIC installed over the weekend. Today I was taking it out for its first drive. I also installed a Fluidyne radiator. Anyways I dont think my temps should be as high as they are. It was low 90's today outside and I was doing city driving so keep that in mind but not really stop an go or anything. So my water temps were reading high 90's on my PFC that after pushing it a bit but not much. They never really fell below 95. My air temp was low 50's and remained there most of the time. So is this normal I knew it might be hotter with the FMIC, but with the stock rad I would only maybe get 95-96 after a hard run. Very rarely would I see high 90's. Except for when it would heat soak after I had let it sit in the sun. So what can I do to bring down temps. Do you think I didnt add enough coolant? sorry for long post.

Thanks

i did the same thing as you a month ago except i got a srmotorsports rad. my temps would stay in the uper 80s with the stock radiator+i/c but now with the blitz ic and sr radiator im in the exact same temp range you are. so i did the fan switch mod and it stays in the mid 80's unless im getting on it pretty hard then itll go up to 90s and can almost get it to 100 if its a 90 degree day

So since it was super hot out today it could just be the outside temps making the car run so hot?

oh and if you live by some where that tunes the pfc you can have them program it to turn the fans on at a lower temp or if you have the datalogit you can do it yourself i think

actually my car ran pretty hot 95-104 all the time even on a cooler day with the fans coming on at 100. everyone says this is fine to run this hot but i wanted it a little cooler since it ran 80s stock so i did the fan mod

I'm showing the same temps as you, I've even seen 108 degrees after a hard blaze uphill. I'm using the Koyo & GReddy FMIC. I however am in the tropics where 85-90 degrees is normal 90% of the year.

I too am wondering if temps should be so high with a hi perf rad even with the fan mod.

and im not trying to push you to do the fan mod. i actually hate it i forget to turn the damn thing off all the time. with the hood closed the fans are so quiet you dont really hear them. next time i go to sr im going to have them change the temp turn on on the fans and hook em back up

i think next time i set a weekend aside for working on the car im going to make a duct to the air filters and put some kind of foam around the i/c and radiator so the air is forced through them. hopefully thatll provide some cooler temps

Yeah, adding more foam insulation between the bumper area to force air into the radiator will help, but mostly everyone has to do the fan mod, there is no way around it if you want cooler temp with FMIC. Even with SMIC I still do the fan mod just for a peace of mind, otherwise car would run in the 90's range before stock fan even turns on.

What % water to coolant are you running? In the summer I run 100% distilled water and the temps are fine.

OK I drove tonight and it was cooler. Temps were: water- 94C perty steady, and air temp low 40's. Are these normal temps for my setup or am I too hot for what I just installed. I feel bad pushing my car when its running 94C. Oh and Jason I am running a 70/30 ratio. Maybe I should just go 100% distilled water. I will be here in MN till August then the car and I are moving to Florida for school. SO both places will be hot anyways

With the datalogit system, I have my fans turning on at 80 Celsius. With two to three runs from 1st thru 4th gear runs...I can get my water temps as high as 100 celsius WITH a FMIC....oh, and the radiator's STOCK... I normally get anywhere between 43 celsius and 47 celsius Air Intake Temps with my PFC.

So the FMIC is doing its job then =-) I was just worried something was screwed up. I think I am going to put 100% distilled water in it because its really hot out today too.

I just want to make sure that you did reinstall the undercover since I know in my case I had to hack it up a good bit to get it to go back on with my Blitz/Koyo combo. I'm sure you did if you're paying this much attention to what's going on.

About this fan mod thing and forgetting about it, mine are very windy loud so I won't miss them, but you could wire the switch (or the ground in the passenger kick panel) to something else that is grounded only when the ignition/accessory switch is on. I haven't done this, but it seems easy enough and it doesn't seem like in my mind that it would interfere with a computer-forced cool down by the fans sometimes after you cut the motor off. I could just need more sleep.

Do you have your underpan installed? How is the ducting to the fmic/radiator. If you force the air to go through the front mount/radiator, you'll get better temps. Make sure everything is ducted off.

Do all the things that are suggested here but do the fan mod ,that dropped my temps on a stock radiator and ic but with intake,dp,catback and pfc. down from high 90,s to low 90,s.with data logic you just reprogram you pfc to switch the fans on sooner, its real easy if you have a freind with the program, kyle did mine, aka Nocab on this forum.
