FMIC close-up pictures!
Hey all!
I'd like to get a FMIC, but obviously I'm concerned with my water temperature.
PLEASE DO NOT START ANOTHER FMIC VS SMIC VS V-MOUNT FLAME WAR!!
If you don't have anything constructive to say about FMIC, please do not post. The question here does NOT concern a SMIC or V-mount.
I'd like to start a thread that contains close-up pictures of each FMIC offered for the FD: Greddy 2row/3row, blitz, HKS... etc. If you have a FMIC, I'd greatly appreciate it if you could take a SUPER CLOSE-UP PICTURE of the fins/passage, preferrably from a straight-on angle. This thread would give all of us an idea of which FMIC on the market allows more/less air through for the radiator.
Thanks everyone!

I just don't understand why some member just HAVE to post even if you tell them in advance that their feedback is NOT welcomed.
Why don't you understand that I don't need your opinion and/or comments. I'm only looking for help from members who are nice enough to spend the time to take pictures of their FMIC.

I havent' done the math, but those intercoolers look a bit large to me. As DamonB put it once, "bigger isn't always better. It's just bigger." This is especially important where intercoolers are concerned; a large IC is going to slow throttle reponse. The biggest intercooler in the world won't be able to lower IAT's below ambient air temp.
I'm not saying that FMIC's are bad: I personally believe that it's more efficient to give the IC the coldest air possible, since you want your IAT's to be cooler than your coolant and oil. However, if a smaller FMIC will do the job (maybe something twice the volume of the stock IC), then anything larger is overkill.
Ideally, you should be measuring the air temps before and after the turbo(s). Then calculate how much cooler you want your IAT's, and choose an appropriate sized IC. There's an excellent book called Maximum Boost, by Corky Bell. I'm sure it's got some useful information if you want to know more:

So far, it seems the HKS allows the most air through the core; but some of the pictures aren't really close-ups, kind of hard to tell.
thanks to everyone's help so far, keep the pics coming!
