Flying wing key for FD....sorry to see JT go!

I got a final order into JT-imports before he closed his doors.

My stock key was getting some metal fatigue and I was worried that it would break. With the upgrades to 99spec look on my car I thought this would be a nice addtion.....BUT I SHOULD HAVE ORDER TWO DAMMIT!

Thanks JT for the parts!

I wanted one of those. I wonder if an RX8 blank would work? I got an Efini one and it worked well. I didn't want the red one.

I bought one like that from JT a while back.
Home Depot cut it for free. It worked perfectly.
I too wish I would have bought 2 when I placed my original order...

nope...I orginally wanted the rotor shaped RX-8 special key. JT said that its too long or something....regardless he said it was a no go...

Give it a try and tell me how it goes, I like the looks of the RX-8 key better

You know you can take it to the mazda dealership and by just using your VIN number they can cut the new key from memory. Thats how they did my Efini one.

I'm still waiting on my door handle plates, I heard he received a lot of orders for them before the cutoff date. Appreciate JT doing this for us though, and it'll be worth the wait.

In case anyone wants to know, I've had the Spirit R key blank cut by a Mazda Dealer, there's no problem. Works just like the factory key.

Yep, I would be interested in Spirit R keyblanks for my FD. Are there any other sources we can order from?

Hi,
I bought red and black key blanks from Corksport recently. I think the black was $11US and the red $21US.

Hope this helps.

FWIW, the legnth of the key has nothing to do with whether it'll work after it's been cut, it's the shape of the key. look at the ends of two keys (your stock key and the RX-8 key if that's what you are looking at getting), and compare their profile. if this is the same, then all the person that has to do is line up the end of your key the same way they line up the end of the key blank (at the hardware store i used to work at, we used a Hillman H50 or H60 key blank, early '90's ford, as the alignment key, put that in the slot the farthest to the right, slid in the key/blank, tightened it down, and cut), and it should work fine. there are some instances where the machine is slightly out of alignment, or the person cutting the key is an idiot, and the key may not work, but that's a rarity. for special jobs, like someone bringing in their own key or one of the keys that has a chip in it, we'd call down a manager so they could take care of it, just so the person knows that they have the most expierenced person doing it, and that'd probably be what you guys would want to do (and so the manager gets to deal with an irate customer should their key happen to not work). just make sure that they do a really good job brushing off all of the burrs on the edges of the new key that they cut for you, and it should be fine.

He had ran the business at home and hardly any profit was made (he shipped my spoiler for free and I live in USA..must've been alot!). Things came up so he's closing shop.

Thanks JT for hooking me up with stuff. and
