Fluid light

Hey just got my third gen and had some beginner questions and one problem I'm having.

Fluid warning light was on.(one that looks like a water tap). Which fluids does it represent? oil, coolant, power steering,AC ect?

There is one cap that I didn't recognize right in the center of the hood area near the engine block.Made out of metal and sais do not open when hot! and some french writing? Any idea what thats for?

The problem I'm having is that that above warning light I mentioned was going on. I noticed coolant was low so I added some. Light went away then came back After I shut it on and off. This morning it is off again.

One thing I'm worried is connected to it is that AC stopped working and is making a hissing sound under glove compartment.

Any suggestions, thoughts, ideas on the problem would be useful.

Thanks

Sebastian

Please read the newb stickies at the top of this forum. The links provided will answer literally all of your questions.

Low coolant.

That is the coolant filler neck cap. There is also a pressurized cap on the AST, which is located to the right of the coolant filler cap. Again, read the newb stickies, and you'll know what I'm talking about.

You could have any number of issues, including air in the coolant system, or (worse) the dreaded leaky o-ring...

You may have a leak in your condenser coils. Buy an FSM and do some research to understand the innards of your FD.

oh crap

If it is a leak in the condenser coils should I not drive the car. Cause when the AC broke I drove it to Toronto with no problem. A week later its doing this warning light issue.

This couldn't of happend at a worse time. I'm going back home moday and its a 9 hour drive and shops are closed tommorrow. Could this cause a blown engine ie don't take the chance? or can it wait till I get back home?

Thanks

Sebastian

u can drive your car with broken a/c as long as u dont turn it on, but dont drive it till u figure out the coolant problem.
