Maybe the flooding doesn't actually lower the compression, but putting in the ATF will definitely raise the compression. Maybe that is sufficient to allow the engine to fire if there is still excess fuel in the combusion chambers.

Well, I guess it could provide some level of increased compression...

Just doesn't seem right putting tranny fluid in the combustion chamber...

yes, it sure doesnt seem right putting a tranny fluid into the combustion chamber. But after countless searches i've been coming up with people doing everything to unflood their engine, and then finding out everything starts right up with ATF.

Maybe over simplifying this but I Know sreies 2 rx7's are hard to start after flooding and leaviing to dry out doesn't work. I had an electronic fuel pump overide fitted and this helped a few times. But the last time my egi wouldn't start I got my wife to tow me along and dropped the clutch in 2nd gear. She fired up on the 2nd try. Check it out b4 you get involved with heavy bill from mazda.
Hope it helps.

Cheers

Eddie

if you do decide to push start it, make sure something pushs you from behind instead of towing you because if it catches, it might lurch foward and you might crash in to the car thats towing you.

BTW: Replace all the solonoids as well as all the hoses that you removed!!!

Yoshi7 is my brother, it's his car we push-started. I was there, we tried everything else and thanked T-von thoroughly. His was is slightly embarassing and degrading to the FD (we used a 1990? Ford Aerostar to push it) but it works, believe me it works. Thanks again T-von

Hey thx No problem

Ohseyun: I dont know maybe people are getting lucky with ATF. Well.. i sure havent and its driving me crazy..

Hey Ohseyun, all this talk about the ATF is not nessecary. If you've tried everything else, at least give my push starting method a try! You odviously have nothing to loss (maybe except going another day without driving the rex). If you do push start it, do it at night, that way know one will see you

Yeah, I would have to agree about putting tranny fluid inside the engine. Who is the rocket scientist that came up with this idea anyway?

Must be one of those "urban legends".

i've tried push starting it.. thats not working.
My fuel pressure solenoid is not connected to any vacum source. I bypassed this solenoid with Dont be a Rikki's method. Maybe that could be the reason.

That could be the reason. Push starting the car only works if the car was originally running before. You odviosly hooked up something wrong. Therefore my method will not work. Once you get things hooked up correcly then give it a try.(if it does'nt start while cranking it over)
