Flapper in exhaust mani

Is the flapper door thats on the exhaust manifold supposed to be loose? Thanks!

The flapper door is in not on the exhaust manifold.

If you removed the arm from the actuator and shook it, it will rattle as the gate floats on the arm inside the exhaust housing. But the arm should never be loose.

That is the turbo control gate and should be attached to the large SS actuator. It remains in the closed position until after turbo transistion when it opens to allow the #2 turbo to get the full exhaust from the #2 rotor.

Thus at rest, it should be fully closed.
