Fixed an odd problem with the coolant resevoir today
I started noticing my coolant being low at the filling point (I have an eliminated AST) and my resevoir gaining more and more fluid as I topped it off.
I had no coolant leaks and had tested the check valve in my radiator cap. Suddenly I get the idea to see if I can blow through the line between the filler cap and coolant resevoir and realize that there is a clog in it because I can't blow through it.
I took out the resevoir today to clean the tubes and tank, but everything was fine aside from a little gunk in the bottom. As I reassembled the hose to the tank I noticed the problem. The hard plastic tube is so long that it actually contacts the bottom of the resevoir and the gunk in the bottom helped it to seal. Essentially it created a check valve.
So, I cut a couple mm off the end of the tube. Problem solved.
I thought everyone could use a repair story that ended in success and cost $0. I'm also interested if anyone else has run into this.
