First time smoke testing for vacuum leaks
Whatever your target boost is if you have the option. Keep in mind the position of the rotor may or may not allow for that pressure to be sustained. Realistically, a vacuum leak will be evident a 0 psi with a smoke machine.
You dont NEED to pressurize the system. Just run the smoke and look for it. A laser or a halogen flashlight helps if the leak is really small. Typically you can just see it without any assistance.

its going to make a lot of smoke and is very popular. SHIPS SAME day from amazon. has a great website. has tons of adapters and so on
BYT! in hindsight i would get one that produces more PSI. This one hooks up to a compressor which i p[refer. but regulates down to 1psi
And i think everyone should test their car occassionally. tighten it up! right!
I did this last year to find a vacuum leak, it worked great.
This is the smoke machine (was $200 a year ago)
I capped off the intake piping, removed some vacuum/pressure lines and capped them.
As for psi, I do not recall, it really didn't take much pressure to discover the now obvious leak.
The leak was due to poor sealing of a block off plate under the UIM. That was easily rectified.

“Now obvious”. So true
I ended up finding mine by spraying carb cleaner. It was very obvious
