The first big project you did yourself?

I am basically just starting the process of working on my FD by myself. I am taking things slow and really havn't even taken off more than the airbox and IC piping. I hooked up my boost gauge and installed my DP also, but that's just REALLY basic . Just curious as to the first big project you guys took on by yourself. Hopefully it will help me gauge the difficulty of future projects. Thanks!!

Trying to get used to driving it. High rev power as compared to my usual low rev power.

1st BIG project was pulling a 13B from a running car, converting it and making it fit into an rx2... since then i have done much more complicated stuff, but from what i remember that was my first undertaking. i could be wrong my memory gets fuzzy over time.

The first thing I did on my FD was to determine it had no compression, then went straight on to pulling the engine.

Ummm - I found a coolant leak. I know, no biggie - but I'm learning. I had to take the airbox out, the pipe from the IC to the y-pipe out, all the intercooler pipes out, etc. It took me a while, and when I found it I was pretty stoked.

Then again, I jumped for joy when I first pulled the codes on my car (small things amuse me like that)

I also fixed the rear wiper and replaced the radio antennae

good luck tom!!!! all i wanted to do was go to a single turbo. . . . a year ago. i have since then gotten a rebuilt 3mm s-ported engine, koyo rad, replaced 5th gear synchro, eliminated as much vaccum mess as possible, pulled all the unwanted wires out of the harness, had "one-off" power pullies made. . . man, all kinds of other crapola. one day i need to sit down and look at all my mods. i never keep track of them. hahaha

well... it all started when i got curious after a week i got the car!! hehehe

First i changed the air filter, plugs, oil change, ect.

Then something more chanllenging as taking in and out of the radiator, removing everything from the IC. Later i found out its easier to take the radiator from below... Doh!!

Then more challenging task as doing the simplification setup. at the mean time removing the fuel injector and replace them.

Then got more curious so i remove the turbo. Now im waiting for all the gasket and Oxygen sensor to arrive so that i can put this turbo and enjoy driving it once more...

Future work?? Changing my auto to 5 speed!! *sigh* it will never end...

All in all, i could not have done it if i didnt get any help from this forum... as this place is VERY VERY HELPFULL!!!

My first car was a '82 corolla. I was 16 and swapped the clutch out.
My 3rd car was a 91 prelude and I did an engine swap.
My 6th car was my 2nd Fd and The first thing I had to do was withy Rikki and we did the vacum hose job.
(First one for both of us)
about a month later we swapped my turbos off. again that was the first time either of us had did that.
