Dude, I am currently using a sears lawn mower battery that is 330 CCA (as recommended by Jason at rx7store....It kicks ***!....However, before I installed my FMIC I had a battery drain issue which I still have. If the car sits for 3 days it's dead...and that was even with the big stock battery so it doesn't have anything to do with the sears battery (I can't belive I have lawn mower parts in my 7 ) It kicks *** when I drive it everyday though...No issues with it starting in the morning or evening. It still fits a bit close to the pullys for me though. I am going with the HC Powered skinny battery...I don't want to have to relocate the battery.

thanks dude. What are your thoughts on the Odyssey PC680 battery? It's supposed to be a motorcycle/watercraft battery, but a few of my buddies are telling me to pick that one up. Thanks in advance...

Funny you ask that...I didn't know about it until 5 minutes ago...Aparently Rotary Extreme is selling a kit for $250 which includes a polished battery tray, terminals, and the Odyssey PC680 battery. Seems they believe it will work fine...Considering it's packing more punch than my [whisper] lawn mower battery [/end whisper] I think it's gonna work just fine. I may just go for this one instead...Plus it's red and will match my strut bar (ohh the vanity)

Odyssey Battery Specs:

Length 7 in.
Width 3 1/16 in.
Height 6 5/8 in.
Drycell Battery
12 Volt
16 Ah @ 10hr rate
280 CCA
680 Cranking Amps for 5 Seconds
28 Minute Reserve Capacity
Cycle life @ 77°F 400 at 100% DOD
-40°F to 140°F Temperature Range

Tom, I also have that battery. Am on my second one right now, apparently they only last for about 2-3 years. But they do come with a good 2 year warranty. Just make the merchant you are buying from will honor the warranty before you buy.

My new replacement PC680 seems to be really strong. Starts up strong everytime and i have absolutely no problems with. But on my old battery and I'm sure on my new one, don't ever let the car sit for more than a week without the battery disconnected. It will drain teh battery. And the chemicals inside the battery will turn to rock if the battery doesn't hold a charge.

Too bad I didn't see chuck's design for the box. I had the bracknet from n-tech on my old battery and it was crap. the weld's broke and i had to reweld it.

On my new battery, I made a similar bracket to n-tech and just did a better job welding it than they did. However I think chuck's job here is by far the best i've seen. Too bad I didn't see it two weeks ago.

I bought the pc680 with the metal jacket and automotive terminals for 90 bucks and the bracket cost me just a few bucks to make. But chuck's 250 box and battery are a really good deal. Those boxes are not cheap to make.
