Finally found out what happened to my car, crappy story

So 4 months ago I left to college, parked my car (15k miles on the new engine and it ran PERFECTLY) and when I came home a month later it wouldent start. Ive been trying for months to figure out why it wont start and 3 weeks ago diagnosed it as a blown apex, which also took out the turbo because I was able to get the car started.

This whole time ive been trying to find out what could have made the car die. I knew somone had driven it since the gas was half a tank lower than when I parked it and finally got it out of my brother that he drove it to and from his friends house once with "no problems."

This led me to belive that he was the culpret but he and my father swore up and down that nothing happened while he was out, so im at school, going to and from home every other weekend troubleshooting the car and stressing out about where the hell im going to come up with the money for a new engine. Finally about a week ago my dad tells me that my grandparents are going to loan him the money to buy me an engine since I just cannot afford one. Well I felt horrible about this because my family is not of the wealtyist at all.

So on the way home from school me and my dad are talking and hes like "so are you mad at your brother?" I answer no because how could I be? its a rotary and I cant prove he did anything. So he goes "ok im going to tell you something but you cant get mad because your brother already is semi-suicidal over how bad he feels about this." so i say ok

So it turns out a week before i had gotten home the first time, that my brother had taken the car out again on a 5 degree day, not let it warm up and boosted it, and the car blew on the spot (haltech and mbc tuned for warm weather) They then towed it up the driveway and parked it.

So for ******* 3 months ive been trying to figure out what happend to my car, some of the time with them standing behind me, and spent tons of money on **** to try to get it to run. They ******* knew the whole time. Apparently my grandparents are loaning my brother the money to buy me a new engine and he has to pay them back, i feel bad about that because hes so poor but I cant belive what they put me through over this. If they had just told me what happend months ago i would be a much happier person.

oh and the kicker is that my dad tried to tell me he didnt know and my brother just told him a week ago... then i asked him "but you towed the car up the driveway with your truck 3 months ago right?" ******* liar.

sorry this post is so long but I needed to vent. they are paying for the engine but i have to pay out of pocket for the turbos that it took out and do the install. hopefully i can get an engine soon

I'd f-ck 'em both up. My family knows better than to touch my car, let alone drive it.

What could they have thought? "Oh just park it, he'll never know we blew the engine!"

That is why "safety" mods aren't nearly as safe as factory stuff. Imagine how many FDs were boosted cold when they were taken on test drives when new.

Bummer about your luck, kick your brother's ***, not for driving the car but for lying about it.

i'm REALLY sorry to hear about that man. i never let anyone drive my car though, i don't even leave keys if i park it at the in-laws. if they have to move it, tough sh*t. its because of things like this too... i'm paranoid. at least you're gonna get it fixed though right?

wow....all that trouble just to find out that they KNEW the whole time...would have been easier just to tell you and give you a whole hearted apology than to let the anger/disgust build.

Yeah it sucks that your motor popped but I am at a complete understanding on how frustrated you are that you put 3 months of your time, effort and money to troubleshoot something when they BOTH knew what happened and lied about it.

And your Dad saying he didn't know and covering it up.... wth.

Wow man, you seemed to take this pretty well. If that happened to me I might have one less brother. Good luck getting the new motor in,
Evan

You shouldn't leave your rx7 in the care of others who just dont get it. Sorry to hear your bad luck, and shitty family judgment. Thank god for granny!

bummer man,
just goes to show lying rarely does any good.

ESPECIALLY in a situation like this..
if your brother had just sucked it up and told you in the first place, he would have had to deal with some HOT HEAT for a short while... but it would have faded(your rage i mean, heh) and **** would be coo.

But now he let that **** simmer and hes all suicidal.

Bummer for everyone.

BUT, even tho you're mad at your bro,
who woulda thought the engine would blow like that?
most people can start their FD up and mash on it on a cold day right off the bat without having to worry about blowing their motor.

This was an unusual circumstance(also not letting it warm up is really more harm for the turbos not the engine).

Anyways,
I'm sorry you're family is so so so so SO untruthful.

rx7's are cool,
but honestly, the ability for the car to hit you with a 5thousand dollar debt, i'm sure has cause serious pain for many many people, due to just this type of situation.

My wifes family is like that... but she keeps on helping them because "theyre her family"

we loaned her mom her car in july of last year. she wont give it back, then she blew the motor and transmission. the best part was she said "its your car, you fix it" Drives me to the brink of insanity because she wont stand up to them. meanwhile im paying 350 for a truck i dont need anymore but cant sell it because she needs a vehicle. (7 is daily driver)

i cut my losses with my family. i talk to no one. family is the first to **** you because they know you "have" to deal with it.

That sucks, but at least it's over and you can start rebuilding...

Maybe your brother can help you in the garage? Your Dad said your brother is near suicide over this, so if he helps you fix it up, I bet he will feel a lot better!

Next time, hide your keys!

I live ALONE, and I still hide them just in case one of my 2-3 friends with my house keys comes over for whatever reason...

Now there's a good idea - p/u that rebuild video I've heard about and have a go at it. Maybe it will help things between the two of you, and teach him the value of trust (and the cost of your engine) in the process. Best of luck with everything.

I knew when you posted that last thread about the car that your brother had f#cked it up and not fessed up. I just didn't want to say it.
I'm sure you will get it back together and better then ever!
