Talking A few Turbo Questions?

First Question:
What size are the stock turbos in the 93 model? (13b)?
Next question:
If I was to perform a rebuild on my turbos, does the car have to be on a lift in order to remove the turbos or can I remove from the hood?
Thanks for the help...
Supra What??

(2) Hitachi HT12 turbochargers
Turbine: 51mm, 9 blade
Compressor: 57mm, 10 blade
Curved "high flow" type blades

from what i read, you can get them out with the engine still in place, of course, it would be easier with the engine removed

though i have not rebuilt mine yet, i have read everything i can find so that when i do, i don't fock something up

btw, there is tons of info on this board on how to remove them. just search!

dont waste your money on the rebuilds....tis just a temporary solution.

I went through two sets of rebuilds in less than a year....3k wasted nearly....should have saved the dough for the upgrade long ago....

finally went m2

To perform a rebuild on the turbos you first have to remove the downpipe-which the bolts are a bitch-be careful they don't snap. So to be careful you should use some WD40, so you better lift up the car. Then remover airpump, filter intakes, etc. Then remove the water, oil lines on top, but then remove the two oil return lines which are under the turbos so you have to pick up the car on a ramp, you do not need to remove the engine like someone said, sure it would be easier if you were rebuilding your engine too, but way too many man hours. Hope I helped you.
