Ok, i own an FD that makes the low 300whp. it is fast, say 4.4 to 60. it is reliable, fun to drive, gets tons of comments every time i take it out and smokes 99% cars on the street. M2 ECU, DP, CB, V-mount IC, cold air intake, big al radiator, small battery, and underdrive pulley. That is for the HP. However i also have brake mods, new wheels with big exp tires, coil overs, racing seats and harness. This was all about $13k in mods.
However i started tracking the car, and want a little more handling, power, response, braking etc. I have now moved the care from DD role to a track role. Track cars break, because are you trying to get the most of out them. for example my turbos started leaking oil at 55k miles, want to get BNR III, which means new ECU and new injectors and tune it. This little project is $5500. OUCH
I love the car, price / performanc is still hard to beat, and the 3rd gen is a f'ing beautiful car. I can get a new lotus Esprit, with a bigger engine and match the pefrormance, the C6 is also an awesome car for a little more money. Then there is the Supra. So for me it is still a good deal cause i love this car, and over all it is an OK deal.
One thing to remember about this forum is most here NEVER stop buying the next thing for the car, this often pushes it and causes reliability issues. I hear about non modified cars going to 70-100k before issues, and this is still a very fast car that handles well. So compare to a honda, it is not good reliability, but compared to super cars it is not bad..
rant done
