A few questions from a future buyer
Hi, I've been browsing this forum for a few weeks now and have learned lots about the RX 7 from everyone, you guys are on point! My first question, I already know about the problems this car possesses and I was wondering if anyone can give me an estimate on how much they invested in the car to get it running reliably. Whether it was beat from the beginning or mildly used all posts are appreciated.
Second question, if I took all the necessary precautions to protect the engine is the car extremely reliable? As in will i be investing more money on a regular basis anyways?
Last question, when I'm looking at a RX 7 what things should I look for or sounds from the engine I should pay attention for to insure that I am not buying something that will break down in a few months.
Thanks for all that will post and help me out, I'm gonna get one anyway connsidering she has been my dream car since I was 10, just want to know what I'm getting into!

Even if you take all the necessary precautions(of which there are many to choose) youll have to deal with busted vacuum lines occaisionally, a PITA fuel filter, gunked plugs, a PITA oil filter, and some other minor annoyances that come with a car you wrench yourself.
But the engine should hold solid for 100,000+ miles assuming you dont overboost your tune and blow a seal. The suspensions are solid. The bodies are solid. The very best tuners and builders we have blow engines. Its a fact of life apparently.

More links are in the stickys at the top of this section under "B" for 'Buying".
Will you be investing more on a regular basis? Yes, I think most here do. It's a high performance sports car that's at least 12 years old now. Things either break and wear-out, or you spend money to improve performance further.
